I want to say this is from around 2005. Drawn on 11×17″ comic page paper, to really try and get some details in there.
It’s okay, but there’s definitely some compositional things that I think could be done better. For example, why is the sword covering her entire mid-torso? It makes her look squatty. The foreshortening on her arms is awkward. And her eye is off-center, just sort of floating over by the temple.
I do like the flowy hair and the details in the gloved fingers, though. It’s not entirely bad, there’s just a lot of things about illustration that I’ve learned in the intervening 15 or so years. So that’s good! It’s good to remember that we’re always learning and improving.
We all have to start somewhere, right?
