Artwork about video games and comics.

Japanese artist BENGUS drew all these character portraits for Capcom’s MARVEL SUPER HEROES vs. STREET FIGHTER video game back in the late 1990s, and I want to share them with you. But instead of just posting a bunch of pictures you can find online, I went and cut all the characters off the backgrounds — So click each image to get to some (fairly) hi-res, PNG files with transparent backgrounds that you can use to do whatever you want with.

I love this particular set of portraits, because all of them are from a perspective where the viewer is looking down on the characters. That’s pretty unusual, as most of these kinds of things are fairly straight-on shots. It’s a nice change of pace.

Spider-Man is the exception, although given how much wall-crawling that guy does, it’s kind of hard to tell. Besides, it’s just cool to see Bengus give us a very 1990s Mark Bagley-style Spider-Man pose.

Anyways, enjoy these cool drawings of video game and comic book characters!

Akuma/Gouki

Blackheart, Son of Mephisto
Captain America/Steve Rogers, Sentinel of Liberty

Dan Hibiki, founder of Saikyo-Ryuu fighting style
Dhalsim, Yoga Master
The Incredible Hulk/Dr. Robert Bruce Banner
Ken Masters, Karate champion
Omega Red/Arkady Rossovich
Ryu. Just Ryu.
Sakura Kasugano
Shuma-Gorath, although apparently Marvel/Disney’s marketing department is calling him Gargantos now, because maybe the Robert E. Howard estate actually owns the name Shuma-Gorath, and they found another one-eyeballed tentacle monster that they already own, so what the hell ever. Shuma-Gorath doesn’t even appear in any Conan stories, it’s just a name that’s mentioned.
Spider-Man/Peter Parker
Wolverine/Weapon X/Logan/James Howlett/Patch/Canuckle Head/Wolvie/Agent 10/Captain Canada/Mutate #9601/Horseman of Death/How many alisases does this guy even have?
Zangief, the Red Cyclone

All of these characters are owned by either Marvel Comics or Capcom.
