Today I decided to have fun with the extended Hammer Bros family. I already drew the Fire Bro a few days ago, so this piece includes a classic Hammer Bro; the cousin from down under, the Boomerang Bro; and finally the massive Sledge Bro.
While the original Hammer Bros were in the first Super Mario Bros. game, the Fire, Boomerang, and Sledge members of the tribe were introduced in Super Mario Bros. 3. Future games later added an Ice Bro, and the one with my favorite name, the Amazing Flying Hammer Brothers.
I’m a fan of small twists on an established character like this, and I hope Nintendo keeps inventing more turtles that throw shit at Mario and company as the series progresses.
