Why Unicron vs Galactus is a Boring Fight

In the world of “Who would win if this character fought with this similar character from another franchise?” one of the “dream fights” that comes up again and again is Unicron the planet-devouring planet from The Transformers: The Movie (1986) vs Galactus from Marvel Comics. Both characters “eat” planets (Unicron does so literally, while Galactus draining the energy from the planet to sustain his life), so what if the two Eaters of Worlds took each other on?

Unicron wins. No questions asked.

Here’s why: According to The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, Galactus stands at 28 feet and 9 inches tall, allowing for some variance, given that some artists draw him at what appears to be closer to 50 or 100 feet tall, compared to the average six-foot Marvel Superhero.

Galactus stands next to the Fantastic Four, who are all approximately six feet tall. The Thing is claiming that Galactus is “taller than the Statue of Liberty,” but he’s probably never seen it up close. The statue of Liberty is over 300 feet tall.

There’s a saying that nothing about scale in Transformers should be taken too seriously, because the physics of everything breaks if you try to science it too hard. Regardless, MOST Transformers are approximately 30-40 feet tall, according to most sources. Which means that, for example, Optimus Prime, Hot Rod, or Galvatron would be about the same height as Galactus, give or take a few feet as a margin of error.

Hot Rod next to Daniel Witwicky. Daniel’s about five feet tall.

Hot Rod vs Galvatron. They’re approximately the same height.

So if Galactus is approximately the same height as Galvatron, then take a look at this image:

That’s Galvatron between Unicron’s fingers. And Galactus is approximately the same size as Galvatron.

Unicron defeats Galactus. No questions asked.
