Frequently Asked Questions

(None of which have actually been asked, yet...)

Q: So, what's this "3rd Sprite" all about?
A: About nine panels a week. Ha! No, but, really, it's a sprite-based webcomic, created by "Psycho" Andy Costello and Brandon A. Mayo, based on the world of Street Fighter III.

Q: "Sprite-based webcomic?" You mean you aren't drawing anything yourself?
A: Nope. We did that for five years, with Hawk & Croc, and Andy is still doing it with InJustice City. This time, we thought we'd let the talented artists at Capcom do our work for us.

Q: Where'd you get the sprites from?
A: Zweifuss.com - He says right on his site that they're free for anybody to use, and he doesn't even demand that we give him credit. But we're doing it anyways, because we're nice like that.

Q: So who does what?
A: For the most part, Brandon writes the strips, while Andy assembles them and maintains the website. But Andy has plenty of creative input on the strips themselves, too.

Q: What the heck! (Character name here) doesn't act like that!
A: Probably not. Brandon and I are comedy writers, creating a parody of the SF world, and lampooning some of the sillier personality quirks of the SF characters. If you want a more canonical take on SFIII, check out the Ryu: Final manga, or UDON Entertainment's Street Fighter III monthly comic.

Q: Why isn't my favorite non-III, Street Fighter character in the comic?
A: The Street Fighter III character sprites look dramatically different than the sprites found in games like Street Fighter II or Street Fighter Alpha. To maintain a sense of consistency, we decided to use only sprites found in the six games that utilize Capcom's CPS3 board - The three versions of SFIII, WarZard/Red Earth, and the two JoJo Adventures games. Except, we don't know anything about the JoJo games, and the WarZard/Red Earth characters are really weird, so for now, we're just sticking to the SFIII characters. That may change over time, though.

All characters and graphics are created and owned by Capcom. All stories and dialogue are co-created and co-owned by Brandon A. Mayo and "Psycho" Andy Costello.
